Babo Moreno // The Eisenberg Review Interview

Babo Moreno makes music from the in-between. London-born drummer and percussionist Fabio De Oliveira grew up with one foot in Brazilian culture and the other in the city’s buzzing jazz and soul underground. The son of renowned percussionist Bosco De Oliveira, Fabio builds on that foundation with a vision entirely his own, less about carrying weight and more about seeing further.

For years he was the heartbeat behind others, shaping vital sounds with artists like Sault, Little Simz, and Jordan Rakei. Now, under the name given to him by family and closest friends, he steps into the spotlight with a self-titled debut that feels both like a homecoming and a declaration.

At its core, Babo Moreno is a mirror held up to the second-generation Brazilian community in the UK, reflecting the shifting experience of those who live between cultures. It is also a lesson in presence: holding space, shaping feeling, and curating the energy that binds a room together.
