Edition 264 leans heavier on rock and indie textures than usual. From the cinematic pulse of Sven Wunder and Boo Boos’ Young Love to the thrashing psych of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and the sly folk-soul of Kendra Morris, the set runs on jagged rhythm, fuzzed-out riffs, and left-field grooves.
It culminates in a conversation with British-Brazilian percussionist Babo Moreno, whose new record is one of the year’s most thrilling jazz statements. Expect late-night head trips, jangly pop detours, and heavy grooves that refuse to sit still.
