Single Premiere // Teminne's “I Wish It Was Different”

Listeners familiar with Şatellites know Rotem Bahar as a voice at home amid the band's hypnotic Anatolian psych grooves. Recording as Teminne, she ventures into different territory, drawing on jazz, neo-soul, and progressive R&B to explore the messier corners of intimacy. Her latest single, “I Wish It Was Different,” gradually blooms, its expanding arrangement revealing subtler shades and textures in Bahar's voice as her performance grows increasingly expressive. It's an intriguing glimpse into her evolving musical identity, allowing a more intimate and vulnerable side of her singing to emerge.

At its heart, the song examines the emotional toll of loving someone caught in their own patterns of self-sabotage, balancing empathy with the difficult necessity of setting boundaries. Rather than settling for a conventional heartbreak narrative, Bahar considers the point at which understanding another person's pain no longer means having to carry it.

The song follows Teminne's visually striking first single, “Room Full of Men,” offering a more inward-looking counterpoint to its examination of power and expectations. Arriving November 6, it precedes her forthcoming solo project, Room Full of Men, due December 4.
