La Sécurité // Bingo!

Following a stellar debut that established them as one of Montréal's most exciting underground bands, La Sécurité return with Bingo!, a delightfully unruly collection of art-punk, new wave, and post-punk curiosities.

Released via Bella Union and Mothland, the band's sophomore effort expands on the jumpy rhythms, angular melodies, and dancefloor instincts of Stay Safe! Polyrhythms, unexpected chord changes, and flashes of harmonic dissonance course through the album, yet nothing feels overly cerebral. La Sécurité's greatest strength remains their ability to make adventurous music feel immediate, infectious, and fun.

Across ten tracks, the collective balances sharp observations with a generous sense of humor. Whether tackling mental health on "Power Snoozer," female autonomy on "Princesse," everyday absurdity on "Ketchup," or celebrating overlooked elders on the title track, Bingo! is simultaneously snarky and sincere. Even the wiry egg-punk standout "Nah Nah," built around the universal desire to simply be left alone, finds the band reshuffling roles and leaning into spontaneity, with Laurence Anne taking lead vocals while Éliane Viens moves behind the drum kit. Throughout the record, ideas feel discovered rather than manufactured, preserving the loose energy that has become one of the group's defining traits.

Recorded largely live off the floor and produced by Félix Bélisle and Emmanuel Éthier, Bingo! thrives on collective chemistry. Every strange detour, hook, and rhythmic left turn feels refreshingly purposeful, resulting in a record that invites listeners to think, move, and smile in equal measure.
